I called this for months now. Frank is one of the most overrated fighters and never s/b considered “top” tier. Weak chin, poor take down defense, mediocre striking though much improved. Carwin was impressive but still needs a good test. Brock vs Carwin s/b intersting though. Brock has better take downs, Carwin has more striking power.

It’s not that Frank Mir isn’t skilled. It’s really his mouth and the UFC that made him up to be this big threat. Frank is good but he’s not a top contender. Frank became a contender when he beat an inexperienced Brock Lesnar. Than they made him out to be one of the men to hold the tittle again. He came off an easy win aganist Hardonk, after a lost to Mir and a shitty performane aganist Dan Christison, so he really isn’t all that great. But that’s just me.

agreed. frank was “marketed” as top fighter by the UFC and people w/o much knowledge rode the bandwagon like blind sheep. only notable win over a rookie Lesnar and zombie-like Noguera. He was so arrogant about his victory as well. Frank was and is and will always be mediocre at best. he started to believe the hype after afew stylistcally favorable match-up for him and ran his big mouth. if he was class act like couture, wouldn’t hate on him but his an asscrown. his chin’s weak, punching power weak, and has poor defense against good wrestlers. he has good jiue Jitsu, that’s it. now maybe his fanboys will finally dig their heads out of that hole and find the next bandwaggon to jump on which prob now will be ~Carwin.

25+ punches to the back of the head and frank has the weak chin? big dan sucks balls as a ref no warnings just letting him wail on the back of franks head. weak chin i think not!

I saw a couple hits to the back of his head, it was 25, alot of those hit his ear and temple, but it was over before Dan finally stoped it. It was that weak chin getting hit that put him on his ass so guestion the shots if you want but that didn’t happen till he was flat on his stomach, it was over before he stoped it.

exacto. he also got dropped by much smaller Brandon Vera in the first round. Frank has good MMA knowledge but that doesn’t translate to him being a great fighter. he was a “made -up” top contender to give Brock more credibility when he won.

how is Frank a legend? his most notable victories include a win over Pete williams, Wes sims (barely beat him too) (umm,. who are they? – excatly my pt) Tim “absolutely no talent but still good enough to be multiple time UFC champ” Sylvia. no one even mentioned Frank and knew who he was until UFC marketed him vs Brock to make Brock look good. they figured Frank would get his ass kicked but by marketing Frank to be top,it would make Brock credible. he won but beat a careless, overly anxious Brock in his 2nd MMA fight after the ref saved him( would have been pounded out if the ref didn’t break for hitting on the back of the head. He is no legend my friend unless you are talking a legend of trash talking

Do you know anything about Frank Mir other than looking at his fight log? The guy is a great fighter, he just match up well with guys who take all of his space away. The Vera fight was shortly after Mir’s accident. The guy was never supposed to fight again and he is fighting at the highest level there is. Keyboard warriors make me laugh.

shane and brock are both big strong and fast. both are solid wrestlers. the fight will go to the fighter with better stand up. brock has a reach advantage and should stick and move. if brock stays out of punching range he can frustate carwin and set up take downs and gnp or even knock carwin out.carwin has to close in and stay elusive with head movements and feints to stay in range and out strike brock.brock should win but it will be close.

The ref should have stopped this fight earlier.
Mir was out cold and hanging limp off Carwin’s off neck and Frank Miragliotta let Carwin cotinue to pummel Mira unmolested for another 15 seconds before finally appreciating that Mira was unconscious.
Mir took some wicked shots after he was clearly not defending himself. Shame on that ref particularly for his indifference to Frank Mir’s brain. The guys is just the sharpest commentator the sport has and it seems a shame to beat the guy up for nothing.
