Now, you listen very carefully…Aldo felt sorry for Faber…He did pitty him…that’s why Faber did not end up dead or more humiliated than he already was.
Aldo could have ended the fight on the crucifix – he just slapped the kid for crying out loud! – or even standing up nocking the f** out of that kid, but he was merciful. Aldo stopped striking on the 3rd round because he knew about his superiority. Faber was like a little child getting his ass wooped by an adult… Now, think this the other way around…If Faber was the dominant man in that fight, how do you think Aldo would have ended up? With some broken arm?…bleeding like a pig on the canvas??…very, very much destroyed and world-wide humiliated?? Yeah, pretty much. That is something the americans with all their “no mercy!” and “See you in hell” bull-shit should learn… to put yourself in the place of your neighbor… respect for human kind and mercy.

Knew Aldo would win, people seemed to over look Jose Aldo in this fight because of Faber’s popularity. Aldo’sa skilled beast.

Faber is washed up. He was the best but no more. Aldo will reign as King for now.

Aldo is good, but not the untouchable great this fight makes him look to be. This division in this promotion is just not that stacked.
If Faber reads this, he should know he shouldn’t change stances when he has not come close to perfecting either. It is common for someone to hold out the jab hand to measure a cross. It is not that great a tactic, but it makes some sense. Faber was holding out the cross hand! I believe Faber held out the lazy cross, partly out of confusion from changing stances so frequently because trying to grab from that far out makes no sense. There is no way you can simply extend your cross hand like that, walk up and grab someone without the threat of punches.
He also should refrain from using a teep when it is so poor. It may be a decent teep against a pure wrestler/grappler, but no MMA fighter should kick against a good to great standup fighter unless they’ve trained it adequately. His teep looks nothing like you would see even at the bottom levels of a pro muay thai fight. He fails to extend his hips to push the kick out and instead he chambers a bit and kicks up, but he lacks the flexibility and it hangs. Damage-wise, it lacks the power to knock the wind out of someone unless they run into it wide open.
Finally, while Faber is ok in the standup and good with wrestling, he doesn’t mix them well. He treats them separately. He tries the 1-2 (jab-cross) too often when it is the most common and well trained for combo in standup. He then tries an isolated overhand. He should be doing 1-2′s changing levels to hit to the head then to the body or body then to the head, and he should immediately follow up with a single leg.
He should also try a lead cross. But his punches need more extension just as his kicks do. And they need more snap at the extended part of the punch. Had he combined striking with takedowns in one fluid motion, he may have had better luck.
If he cannot take Aldo down, which I think he can had he blended the striking and the takedowns better, then his other option would be to improve pure standup. 1-2 and a single overhand and a teep were the extent of what he had to offer. The rest of the time, Faber stood in kicking distance with his cross hand out. He was too far to land punches most the time, and his cross hand was sticking out, taking away potential power from his cross. His jab hand was not in position for a snappy jab either. So in effect, he was standing only to defend and only to try to grab Aldo.
The best opportunities to strike or take someone down present themselves when there is a threat of high strikes, low strikes and takedowns.
Faber’s stance told me he was only going to throw floopy half kicks and half punches, and so if I kept out of clinch distance or takedown distance, and kept kicking the front leg, I could win the fight. Any time the distance was closed, Aldo threw a knee and backed out, or simply backed out.
Bad coaching, bad preparation. If he were in a smarter camp, he might have taken the title. Hopefully he learns and improves, because he is a talented athlete.

Faber frequently holds his hands as if he’s orthodox when he’s standing southpaw or vice versa. Switching stances sub-consciously and when in striking distance of Aldo messed him up. It looks absolutely awful.
He’s frequently caught holding out his cross hand with his weight to the front. In that position you’re not worried about a jab, nor the cross. If he leaned forward in a slight crouch and torqued his body, perhaps, he could throw a lead hook or uppercut. But he had his head up high indicating otherwise.
From his stance, *ANY* good standup fighter would have had a field day as long as they avoided the takedown that was never set up with punches. He basically made it impossible to throw a good cross by pawing out his cross hand like that and crossing his feet so frequently.

Great fight – I do know about you all, but a few of the leg kicks and the fight would have been over for me. I give Faber credit for going for so long. I think if Faber knew how to “carrot-top” leg kicks, it would have helped. Faber’s stance was just a little too wide, which allow Adlo to do what he did.
Over all, I really enjoyed watching this fight, one of the best I have seen on WEC.

Aldo reminds me of Silva in his dominant abilities except Aldo is much more respectful of his opponents…. Aldo clearly went easy on Faber during the last 2 rounds….. Faber is still a great fighter but these brazilians man… unstoppable.

Man, this fight actually looked like Dragon ball Z, Faber was a hero just by continuyng the fight, without giving up.

I don’t think anyone should be telling Faber what he should or should not have done. The reason he was in the fight and you were not is because he’s flat out better than you. He obviously had a reason for switching his stance, the comentators even said he was trying to “mix it up” or another likely reason was he was tired of having the same leg kicked. He’s a great fighter and he knows what he is doing Aldo just happens to be an even better fighter.
