comparing fedor with overeem it seems like overeem beat rogers alot easier. he looks very strong, he just threw him to the ground with no effort!

Overeem is a great striker with great submission skills. When some said he hasn’t fought MMA in awhile it’s because They haven’t heard from him. He’s fought some great fighters, he lost some, won some, like most fighters. He can beat Fedor he has the stand up and the ground game to win.

I always stated the Overeem is way under-rated as a heavyweight b/c he is not well known in the states. He definetly has the physical attributes and skills to be #1 as a heavyweight.
UFC fans always talking about how Brock and Carwin , and other UFC heavyweights are the best but these folk don’t kow great fighters exist outside of UFc. People, UFC = Politics= Business=marketing
UFC keeps on feeding their Golden Boys people who match up poorly against them STYLISTICALLY
so of course they win 90% of the time.
Styles make fights and Oveereem’s style is the best to exploit both Brock and Carwin.
Longer reach, quicker and more explosive striking as well as much more versalitiy- knees, high kicks, elbows. Technique is leagues above. K-1 level. He ko’d Badi Hari in their 1 st fight.
He also has excellent take-down defense as well as good ground defense as well as offense. Super long limbs is an huge asset in this respect.
add to that that he is just as big and strong, taller with longer reach and limbs
has more experience, is much faster and even more agile, = disaster.
people who don’t know the true aspect of fighting and only knows the Big marketed names will say othewise but realize Big names are Big names b/c their careers are developed by protecting them against loosing against people
who match up well against them. another words, they get hand -picked opponents (UFC syndrome)
I say oveereem crushes Brock or Carwin easily 9 out of 10 times.
I think Oveereem vs Fedor/Cain would be much more interesting. can go either way. fedor is more well rounded but oveereem has sup striking and is very well rounded himself.. This would be a great fight.

if i was brett rogers i would work on NOTHING else but standups and takedown defense. being whipped like that for a 265 lb fighter is pretty sad esp at the championship level. what, did rogers think everyone is just going to play to his strengths and stand with him when the second you get a grip on him he flops like a fish?

Will be interesting to see Fedor vs Overeem. My money will be on Overeem. Ofcourse Fedor must win over Werdum first…

Seems as though Matt’s comments can’t be disputed. He destroyed Rogers! I would definitely love to see Overeem and the Last Emperor go at it!!!! Rogers has shown that he doesn’t have the instinct. You can have all the MMA training in grappling, subs, and kickboxing you want, but when you’re in the ring, you have to be able to counter. Rogers doesn’t have that last element. I think Fedor may be able to handle, he’s a lot stronger than people give him credit for.

I don’t think it was a matter of lacking instinct. He was simple outclassed by a faster, younger, much more poised and experienced figher who is better at every aspect of the game. I would however say that the loss to Fedor did have had a impact on his mentality and made him bit more tentative due to fear of counters. Also, in this case, he didn’t have the size/strenght advantage.
I think Brett is a awesome prospect and he is no where near reaching his potential but he’ll have to learn not to rely on brawn alone. He has the potential to be great. Naturally strong and agile.
Overeem had one major weakness in his conditioning but, is much better at his new weight which seems more natural for him.
If you look at his previous losses, most cases he dominated and lost the match when he gassed.
Liddell, Kharitonov, Shogun, etc etc.
I say top three are Fedor, Reem, and potentially Cain. I also like JDS alot but feel he needs bit more experience.

weak! these dude got nothing on fedor, he was hitting brett rogers on the back of the head. all he did was put his weight on brett and TRY to ground and pound. he needs to go take some more steriods and work on his mma!

If Overeem is the guy that dethrones fedor that will be a serious let down. He’s good now but you can go back a couple years and watch him get smashed by dozens of fighters.

just coz he was bad then dont mean he is now!! he has improved a hell of a lot over recent years!! i hope he destroys fedor just to shut all those arse licking people out there, fedor isnt the best, never has been, never will be, i hate brock but brock would destroy him FACT! so yeah OVEROIDS for the win for me!!
